Dr. Joseph Borreggine ,podiatric physician, who practices in East Central Illinois recently went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (DR) with his local church and participated in a week long medical mission. He treated many patients in the community medical clinic. Even though a majority of the patients were only needing treatment for foot mycosis and other minor foot problems they still appreciated his presence. Borreggine also performed a number minor podiatric surgical procedures to correct ingrown toenails. Borregine said, "That foot health in most third world nations, like in the Dominican, is ignored by most people." Borreggine went on to say, "Since podiatric medicine is a 'universal language' of sorts, our expertise can be utilized anywhere in the world always with the same result...relief!" This is the second trip for Borreggine in the last four years to the DR. He is looking forward to return there in the near future.

Dr. Joseph Borreggine, podiatric physician, recently took part in the "Vision 2008" fundraiser for a local Christian radio station 97.1FM WBGL in Champaign,IL. He was a volunteer operator taking calls from listeners who wanted to donate to the station. This year's fundraiser was trying raise over $1.5 million to help fund a new ministry center because WBGL has outgrown their current location. At the end of the four day event they received pledges equaling 53% of the goal. Borreggine has been a long time supporter of the station. WBGL's parent company has multiple stations broadcasting to listeners all over Illinois and Indiana. Dr. Borreggine is pictured with Zoe Fuller, WBGL's station manager. Local Podiatrist becomes President-Elect for IPMA
Charleston, IL- Podiatric physician, Dr. Joseph Borreggine,who practices in Charleston and Effingham, IL recently attended the Annual Illinois Podiatric Medical Association (IPMA)state meeting which was held in Lisle, IL. Borreggine, a member of the IPMA executive board, was elected by the IPMA membership to the President-elect position for 2008-2009 year. This meeting also provided continual medication education to all the attendees required for annual podiatric practice license renewal. IL Podiatrist Shaves His Head to Support Cancer Awareness
Dr. Joseph Borreggine, a podiatrist who practices in Charleston, IL recently shaved his head on behalf of the St. Baldrick's Society at the Razorz Edge Salon for cancer awareness in children. Borreggine lost a cousin in 1975 due to a brain tumor, and did this in honor of her memory. Borreggine volunteered as a shavee this past month and raised over $500 during his pledge campaign.
In conjunction with the event, Borreggine conducted a free foot screening at his office, where patients were able donate money and receive a free foot exam. There is a dedicated webpage available for anyone to make a donation to St. Baldrick's which can be accessed via Dr. Borreggine's practice website (myfeethurt.net). Dr. Borreggine will continue to accept donations for St. Baldrick's through the end of the year.
Local Podiatrist goes to Washington, DC
Charleston-Local podiatric physician and surgeon, Dr. Joseph Borreggine recently attended the American Podiatric Medical Association's (APMA) 88th Annual House of Delegates (HOD) in Washington DC at the JW Marriott Hotel. Borreggine was a delegate representing the State of Illinois podiatrists. At the meeting, a number resolutions were passed to help direct the APMA executive board and committee's to help further the practice of podiatric medicine. A number of guest speakers from other different medical organizations including the American Medical and Osteopathic Associations gave short talks to the podiatric delegation on the current issues facing medicine. There were also presentations from the Canadian Podiatric Medical Association, the British Association of Chiropody, and the International Federation of Podologue. This was Borreggine's second HOD in the last four years. He looks forward to attending next year's meeting. Borreggine practices in Charleston and Effingham, IL.
Borreggine attends Midwest Podiatry Conference in Chicago
Charleston-local podiatric physician, Dr. Joseph Borreggine recently attended the annual Midwest Podiatry Conference held at the Chicago Hyatt Regency Hotel from March 27-30, 2008. Borreggine is the current Vice-President of Illinois Podiatric Medical Association (IPMA). He and his other 850 podiatric colleagues gathered to learn and obtain continuing medical education credits by attending lectures on the current concepts being used in podiatry. Borreggine also attended his 20th reunion for the Scholl College Podiatric Medical School class of 1988. Dr. Borreggine lives and practices in Charleston, IL and has another location in Effingham.
